Employ a Student or Graduate for £120 Per Week - 29 Mar 2006

A work placement is a paid period of work undertaken by a University student or graduate usually based around the completion of a project. GO Wales is funded by the Welsh Assembly Government and the EU Social Fund to help Wales retain the higher-level skills of graduates, and to better enable small and medium-sized businesses (SMEs) to take advantage of these skills.

Around 1,000 placements are organised each year for companies in all business sectors throughout Wales. There is very little administration involved and two-thirds of work placements lead to jobs at the end of the 10 weeks, proving they work for SMEs in Wales.

The host organisation pays the 'placee' a minimum of £200.00 per week.  Eligible SMEs receive up to £80 per week towards this sum.

Businesses benefit from the chance to try out graduate skills with no further obligation. This saves time by bringing in a graduate to assist with the workload and saves money by accessing these high-level skills at a reduced rate.
