Description: Sensory Awareness Day - Deaf Awareness & Sight Loss organised by RNID and RNIB Cymru, taking place on 3rd December 08 in Cardiff.

This training course aims to provide information to help make organisations more accessible for customers and service users with hearing or sight loss. It includes:

 

DEAF AWARENESS

 

-  different types and causes of deafness and hearing loss#
-  communicating with people who are D/deaf or hard of hearing
-  accessibility issues and solutions
-  basic British Sign Language (BSL)
-  support with recruiting and developing D/deaf and hard of hearing employees

 

SIGHT LOSS

 

-  different eye conditions and their effects
-  myths and stereotypes surrounding sight loss
-  accessible information
-  meeting and greeting including sighted guide training
-  how to ensure blind and partially sighted people get the best possible service from an organisation


The event is aimed at front-line staff, particularly those who have contact with the general public, as well as anyone that has a colleague with hearing or sight loss.

 

Cost: £150.00 + VAT per delegate including lunch, refreshments and all course materials.
