Sensory Day - Deaf Awareness & Sight Loss organised by RNID and RNIB Cymru, taking place on 25th November 08 in Llandudno. |
This training course aims to provide information to help make
organisations more accessible for customers and service users with
hearing or sight loss. It includes:
DEAF AWARENESS
- different types and causes of deafness and hearing
loss#
- communicating with people who are D/deaf or hard of
hearing
- accessibility issues and solutions
- basic British Sign Language (BSL)
- support with recruiting and developing D/deaf and hard of
hearing employees
SIGHT LOSS
- different eye conditions and their effects
- myths and stereotypes surrounding sight loss
- accessible information
- meeting and greeting including sighted guide training
- how to ensure blind and partially sighted people get the
best possible service from an organisation
The event is aimed at front-line staff, particularly those who have
contact with the general public, as well as anyone that has a
colleague with hearing or sight loss.
Cost: £150.00 + VAT per delegate including lunch, refreshments
and all course materials.
