Introduction to the guide
This page contains detailed information on the voluntary sector grant schemes which are available across the Welsh Assembly Government. During spring 2006, three Assembly Sponsored Public Bodies (ASPBs), namely Education, Learning Wales (ELWa), Wales Development Agency (WDA) and Wales Tourist Board (WTB) integrated into the Welsh Assembly Government bringing with them their related grant funding. This funding is very specific to the subject areas, namely Education and Training; Tourism and Business in Wales. However, some of this funding can be accessed by the voluntary sector.
There are a number of Assembly Government Sponsored Bodies which also offer advice and funding to the voluntary sector in Wales in respect of the arts, sports, environment, countryside and the Welsh language. If you are active in these areas you may wish to access the website addresses listed below:

The Partnership Agreement
The majority of the grant schemes included in this guide offer funding on an all-Wales basis only. In order to address this and ensure this document provides useful information at a local level, the details of the principal voluntary organisations which act as the infrastructure of the voluntary sector in Wales have also been included. These voluntary organisations are allocated funding by the Welsh Assembly Government through the Infrastructure Fund, governed by the Partnership Agreement. This funding is allocated specifically to provide a support service to voluntary organisations across Wales. The voluntary organisations which receive funding through the Partnership Agreement are the Wales Council for Voluntary Action (WCVA); the County Voluntary Councils (CVCs) and the Volunteer Centres.
Wales Council for Voluntary Action (WCVA)
The WCVA is the voice of the voluntary sector in Wales. It represents voluntary organisations, volunteers and communities in Wales. They offer voluntary organisations in Wales advice, support, training and administer numerous grant schemes open to the voluntary sector. Please access their website for more detailed information.

County Voluntary Councils (CVCs)
There is a CVC based in each Local Authority (LAs) in Wales. CVCs provide a range of accessible and accurate support services to enhance the development and effectiveness of voluntary and community action locally. They offer training and funding advice and in a number of areas run small grant schemes.
Volunteer Centres
There is a Volunteer Centre in each LA throughout Wales. Volunteer Centres offer a range of services to organisations that use volunteers in their work. They also offer advice and guidance to members of the public who wish to volunteer.
