Opportunity Wales Available to Powys - 20 May 2005

Businesses in Powys are being offered a leg-up the eCommerce ladder thanks to the eCommerce initiative Opportunity Wales which has been launched in Powys. Businesses throughout the county can now benefit from its advisory support to help progress onto the eCommerce ladder to success.

Opportunity Wales support has been available to small and medium-sized businesses (SMEs) throughout Wales' Objective One area since 2002, and is now expanding its support to the Objective Two Core & Transitional areas of Wales.

Clients of Opportunity Wales in the Objective One area have realised the beneifts in terms of growth and expansion.  Over the two-year period that this initiative will be run, it is anticipated that over 1,750 SMEs will receive eCommerce support.

Opportunity Wales provides businesses with free access to impartial advice from trained eCommerce Advisers who show clients the most effective way for them to move forward with the adoption of eCommerce into their business.  This can be from the very early stage of getting a first computer and installing email software, through to developing fully integrated online shopping stores.

An Opportunity Wales adviser will visit a business to undertake a review of its current eCommerce provision and proposed developments and compile this into a comprehensive report, outlining key action points that will enable the business to progress with eCommerce, provided entirely free of charge.

In addition a small grant may be applied for to assist with the adoption of the action points recommended in the report, in conjunction with access to further one-to-one advisory support at a hugely subsidised rate.
