Creative Industries Talent Nurture Fund for Welsh Coalfields
The Talent Nurture Fund has been set up to support young
talented people living in the former coalfield communities of
Wales, to seize opportunities presented by the fast growing
creative and cultural industries in Wales.
However many young people face barriers to developing their
talents and entering these industries, whether through lack of
opportunity, support and encouragement or resources.
The funding has been created through the Welsh Coalfields Bond -
a social investment bond allowing investors to give to charity and
get their money back in 5 years.
OPPORTUNITIES
The Talent Nurture Fund will give awards typically between
£500-£3,000.
The opportunities that the creative sector providers are large -
as well as household names there are 1,000s supporting
backstage:
- scriptwriters
- composers
- designers
- musicians
- make-up artists
- costumiers
- film
- sound & lighting technicians
- choreographers
- publicists
- IT specialists
- animators
The Talent Nurture Fund will assist individuals aged 16 and over
to surmount barriers to developing their talent in film, TV, music
and related trades, particularly to achieve employment-related
aspirations, e.g.
- to purchase equipment for apprenticeships
- college textbooks
- travel
- IT needs for a new business
- workshop space
- tuition
- promotion
ELIBILITY
Applicants should live in the former coalfield areas of Wales.
The identified areas cover:
- Carmarthenshire
- Swansea
- Neath Port Talbot
- Bridgend
- Rhondda Cynon Taff
- Caerphilly
- Merthyr Tydfil
- Blaenau Gwent
- Torfaen
- Flintshire
- Wrexham
