A new look tax return has now been launched, with fewer
questions and aiming to have an improved layout with simpler
questions.
The return is designed to be easier to understand and complete,
especially aimed at those who are self-employed or who don't use an
accountant.
OTHER CHANGES
- a new page for additional information -
questions that are only used by a small number of people about less
common issues have been moved to a new separate 'additional
information' page included in the pack
- a new short self-employment page - a
2-page form with less boxes to complete for smaller,
straightforward businesses with an annual turnover of below
£64,000
- an increased 'three line account'
threshold - the limit for completing simpler, abbreviated
accounts information has been doubled to £30,000
- re-ordered questions - the main source
of income is now at the front, rather than at the back, so people
answer questions most relevant to them first
A re-designed version of the online Self-Assessment
(SA) return is also now
available.
DEADLINES
From this year, there are also changes to the deadlines:
- paper returns must now be filed by 31st October
