There are over 13,000 retail enterprises in Wales employing around 134,000 people. Some of these businesses have international markets, whilst many more perform a vital service to their local communities.

The Welsh Assembly Government recognises the importance of the retail sector to the economy of Wales and offers a range of assistance to retail businesses looking to start-up, develop and grow.

Support might include:

• specialist advice on starting-up and growing your business;
• joint marketing and networking activities; and
• financial assistance to eligible projects.
